In the name of the father (1993), Jim Sheridan

It's hard to talk about this movie.
The film itself is a hard movie, but the fact that it's based unpon a real fact, a real history, makes it even a harder film.

The story is about an Irish boy, unfairly accused of a terrorist bomb atack in London. The sentence is life. The ruined live of several families, all of them unfairly accused of the act itself or of collaboration with terrorists... And all just for the sake of an unfair justice system.

The rear message, the background idea: do we really change our personal freedom for general security? Is so sad to realize that this question is not at all out of date. Specially after the contemporary terrorist conflicts which push the governments arround to cut the indivual freedom for national security's sake.

Splendid film and specially splendid interpretation of a formidable Daniel Day-Lewis, among a general good set of actors and interpretations.

Finally, I should explain about the event. About how that girl I liked so much proposed to see a film together at her place, about how I discovered for the first time that she was much of a liar, and that she was indeed playing -quite unfairly- with me. Anyway I was -and I am- an stupid boy who fell innocently in her game. Now, deception and a bit or rage... In a few months, forgetfulness.
